Jim 1e Slalom U13 en Lars 4e Slalom U17 tijdens IFCA Wereldkampioenschappen in Alacati, Turkije (NL)
Eerste dag van de competitie was in wisselende omstandigheden. Jimmy was een grote verrassing in de eerste eliminatie door het behalen van de finale in de U-17 categorie uiteindelijk finishend op de 7e plaats. De tweede ronde was hij 2e in de losers-final. Afwachtend op officiële resultaten, verwachten we hem op de 2e plaats in de U-15 categorie met achter zich curacao talent JeanPaul Da Silva
Lars haalde vandaag de finale tot twee keer toe, eindigend op de 4de plaats U-17. Aron Etmon, Coen Swijnenburg en Jurgen Saragoza zijn in de podiumplaatsen na dag een, met gunter toch dicht bij. Nederland, Curaçao en Bonaire -jongens lijken de U-17 groep te domineren, maar het is nog te vroeg in het wereldkampioenschap om te zeggen.

Dag twee op de slalom wereldkampioenschappen in Alacati, Turkije. Hoewel genoeg wind was om te racen, deden constante windstoten en windshifts het race comittee en deelnemers tot wanhoop drijven vandaag. Uiteindelijk kon er een eliminatie ronde worden afgerond.
Jim van Someren deed het weer! Met minder dan een duimlengte voor JeanPaul Da Silva haalde hij de finale opnieuw. Hij verstevigd zijn huidige eerste positie U-13 en zijn tweede positie U-15.
Lars haalde gemakkelijk de finale, maar maakte een dure fout bij de start van de finale. Vanaf laatste positie vocht hij terug naar stand 6. Hij is nu op plaats 5 in overall in U-17.
Morgen weer een dag van high-speed racen in stevige wind.

Dag drie op de Alacati slalom windsurfen wereldkampioenschappen: de wind was stabieler vandaag waardoor twee complete eliminaties konden worden afgerond. In de U-17 vloot maakte Coen Swijnenburg een duidelijk stap naar de titel met twee overwinningen, terwijl de andere deelnemers fouten maakten. Lars van Someren begon heel goed met een 2e plaats, maar viel op de laatste boei in de tweede finale, eindigend op een teleurstellende 9e plaats. In de algemene resultaten klom hij van de 5e naar de 4e positie, maar hij was niet zo blij meer vandaag, in het besef dat hij een grote kans mist om dichter bij de podium posities in de buurt te komen. We gaan verder om te zien wat morgen zal brengen.
In de U-15 vloot nam Jean Paul Da Silva duidelijk de leiding. Hoewel Jim van Someren er in geslaagd is om zijn 3e finale veilig te stellen in de U-17 vloot, in de finale was hij te vroeg met de start en veroorzaakte een OCS. In de tweede eliminatie eindigde hij op een goede 4e plaats in de losers-final. Na de huidige resultaten is hij de onbetwiste U-13 leider en stevig op de 2e plaats in de U-15 vloot.

Dag 4 van de Alacati WK Slalom Windsurfen. Lars van Someren zette een zeer stabiele en solide prestatie neer met twee 4e plaatsen in de finale. In de ochtend waren er windstoten van maximaal 28 knopen gemeten. In de latere namiddag was de wind onverwacht gedaald tijdens de U-17 finales. Iedereen was underpowered en Coen Swijnenburg heeft gepompt alsof zijn leven ervan afhing. Hij slaagde erin om het peloton voor te blijven en corrigeerde zijn slechte resultaten eerder op de dag. Hij is nog steeds nr. 1 op het leaderboard en in uitstekende positie om de titel morgen in de U-17 vloot veilig te stellen. Lars blijft op de 4e plaats na vandaag, met Jurgen Saragoza en Aron Etmon in plaats 2 en 3 respectievelijk.
In de U-15 vloot versterkt Jean Paul Da Silva zijn leidende positie met twee finales vandaag. Jim van Someren was een beetje minder gelukkig vandaag. Hij crashte in een Turkse deelnemer bij de laatste boei en daalde van 4e naar de 8e positie. In de middag voer hij heel goed, maar hij vond zichzelf zwaar underpowered op 4.9 wanneer de wind even weg was. Zijn uitgebreide Techno training redde de dag want zijn pomp-vaardigheden verzekerde hem van een 4e plaats in de losers-final. Hij is nog steeds op de 1e plaats U-13 en 2e in de U-15 vloot met slechts twee punten voorsprong op ITA 353, Francesco Scagliola. Morgen de laatste dag. Stay tuned allemaal!

Laatste dag van het IFCA Slalom Worlds. Lars was erg sterk vandaag, met een 2e plaats in de finale U-17, na wereldkampioen Coen Swijnenburg. Gefeliciteerd Coen op een ongelovelijke vijf bullit-serie! Ondanks zijn uitstekende resultaten, blijft Lars van Someren op de 4e plaats. Hij kan trots zijn op dit resultaat gezien zijn focus op Techno dit jaar.
En Jim van Someren is momenteel de beste U-13 slalom matroos in de wereld! Wat een debuut op het slalom wereldtoneel, zo behaalde hij ook de 3e plaats in de U-15 vloot. Met zijn 12 jaar liet hij een groot deel van de grote jongens achter zich. Zeker de ‘new kid on the block’, en vastbesloten volgend jaar het nog beter te doen!

First day of competition in varying conditions. Jimmy was a big surprise in the first elimination by making it into the final in the U- 17 category finishing 7th. The second round he was 2 nd in the loser final. With official results pending, we expect him on 2nd place in the U -15 category trailing behind curacao talent JeanPaul Da Silva
Lars made the final twice today coursing in 4th place U- 17. Aron Etmon, Coen Swijnenburg and Jurgen Saragoza are in the podium places after day one, with gunter still close by. Dutch, Curacao and Bonaire guys seem to dominate the u-17 group but it is still early days into the world championships.

Day two at the slalom world championships in Alacati, Turkey. Although there was enough wind to race, constant gusts and windshifts put the racing comittee and competitors alike to some despair today. Eventually, one elimination round could be completed.
Jim van Someren did it again! With less than inch infront of JeanPaul Da Silva he made it into the finals again. He solidifies his first place u-13 and his second place u-15.
Lars easily reached the final but made a costly mistake at the start of the final. From last position he fought back to position 6. He now is at place 5 overall in U-17.
Tomorrow another day of hi speed racing in strong winds.

Day three at the Alacati slalom windsurfing world championships: the wind was more stable today which allowed for two complete eliminations. In the U-17 fleet Coen Swijnenburg made a clear bid for the title with two wins while the other contestors made some mistakes. Lars van Someren started very well wth a 2nd place but fell on the last buoy in the second final, finishing on a dissappointing 9th place. In the overall results he climbed from 5th to 4th position but he was not a happy camper today, realizing he missed a great opportunity to move closer to the podium positions. Move on and see what tomorrow will bring.
In the U-15 fleet JeanPaul Da Silva clearly took the lead. Although Jim van Someren managed to secure his 3rd final in the U-17 fleet, in the final he was too early and caused an ocs. In the second elimination he finished a good 4th place in the loser final. After todays results he is the uncontested U-13 leader and firmly in 2nd place in the U-15 fleet.

Day 4 of the Alacati World Championships Slalom Windsurfing. Lars van Someren put down a very steady and solid performance with two 4th places in the finals. In the morning gusts of up to 28 knts were measured. In the later afternoon the wind unexpectedly dropped during the U-17 finals. Everyone was underpowered and Coen Swijnenburg pumped as if his life depended upon it. He managed to stay ahead of the pack and corrected his bad results earlier in the day. He is still no. 1 on the leaderbord and superbly position to take the title tomorrow in the u-17 fleet. Lars remains in 4th place after today, with Jurgen Saragoza and Aron Etmon in place 2 and 3 respectively.
In the u-15 fleet JeanPaul Da Silva strenghtened his leading position with two finals today. Jim van Someren was a bit less fortunate today. He crashed into a turkish competitor at the last buoy and fell from 4th to 8th position. In the afternoon he sailed very well but he found himself heavily underpowered on 4.9 when the wind dropped. His extensive Techno training saved the day as his pumping skills secured a 4th place in the loser finals. He is still in 1st place u-13 and 2nd in the u-15 fleet with just two points ahead of ITA 353, Francesco Scagliola. Tomorrow the final day. Stay all tuned!

Final day of the IFCA Slalom Worlds. Lars was very strong today, with a 2nd place in the final u-17, after world champion Coen Swijnenburg. Congrats Coen on an impacable five bullit series! Despite his excellent results, Lars van Someren remains at 4th place. He can be proud of this result considering his focus on Techno this year.
And Jim van Someren is currently the best U-13 slalom sailor in the world! What a debut on the slalom world stage, as he also made 3rd place in the U-15 fleet. With his 12 years he left a lot of the big guys behind his tail. Definitely the new kid on the block, and determined to do even better next year!
