World championship windsurfing 2014 Gallipoli (4)

Een zeer lange dag die met een goed humeur en vol verwachting van een geweldige race begon. Blauwe luchten, witte schuimkoppen op het water en een sterke wind variërend van 18 tot 25 knopen.

En dan begint het wachten. Tot ontzetting van veel concurrenten, acht de belangrijkste race officer de omstandigheden niet geschikt voor fair racen. Met draaiwinden van ongeveer 50 graden wordt de race in de wacht gezet van 11 tot 17 uur. En zo ging een mooie dag voorbij, met op deze laatst mogelijke racedag slechts twee races gevaren.

 

Lars zette zijn winning streak in de U-17 vloot voort en heeft nu 11 bullets. Een 100% score. Bovendien dichte hij de kloof met de nummer 4 in de U-20 vloot en kwam op gelijke hoogte in puntenaantal. De laatste race van morgen zal deze interessante strijd beslissen.

Nadat hij vice-wereldkampioen slalom u-15 en vice-wereldkampioen formula experience in 2012 en vice-wereldkampioen formula U-17 in 2013, zal de Windsurfing4you teamrider en Jeugd Olympische zeiler Lars van Someren de Junior Formula Windsurfing World Champion titel mee naar huis nemen?

Day four of the Junior, Youth and Master World Championships in Gallipoli, Italy. A very long day that started in good spirits and full anticipation of great racing. Blue skies, white caps on the water and a strong wind ranging from 18 to 25 knts.

And than the waiting started. To the dismay of many competitors, the principal racing officer deemed the circumstances unsuitable for fair racing. One more day of racing. One more day of focus. And only one pivotal question:
